Sunrise in the City

In Chicago this morning, we had another spectacular sunrise. Maybe it's due to the cold, arctic winds blowing in our direction, but in any case the air is crystal clear and is perfect for picture taking. On my run this morning I took a few:

Montrose Harbor Sunrise

Geese in Montrose Harbor

Sunrise with clouds

Skyline
Montrose Harbor Geese in Flight
5.75 miles total. Next up: 16 miler on Sunday, then taper for 3 weeks.

  1. The sunrise really was beautiful this morning... as I watched it from my warm apartment. Montrose Harbor is one of my favorite places in the whole city, and pictures like these are why :)

    1. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the sunrise (from the comfort of your own apartment). Have you ever eaten/drank at the "Dock" restaurant/bar at Montrose Harbor?

    2. Surprisingly, no! But I'm going to try this summer. Have you?

    3. Yes. We have had good service, decent food, and good beer selection. It is a nice "escape" on the beach in the summer.

    1. Thanks. Have fun on your 20 miler. That's awesome. I am wondering how my recovery will be next week. It will be the longest run since the Chicago Marathon!

It was pretty in the burbs, but my iPhone pics were crap. LOL!

  6. Stunning shots, Pete! I've often fantasized about waking up early enough for a sunrise lakefront run. My internal alarm clock never agrees. The weather for Sunday is looking tricky -- a bit warmer, yet snowy! Have a great 16-miler!
