Yay Snow!

I finally got to break in my new cross country ski boots today in Horner Park! The soles on the old boots came unglued when I went skiing in -10 degree temps in Lake Geneva.


They were brand new and were so much more comfortable then the old ones.  Anyway, the hill in Horner Park had about 200 sledders and snowboarders on it, even though the average trip length down the hill is about 15 seconds. Of course, I went down on my skis for a little downhill practice!

I have taken about two weeks off from running (except puppy sprints and the MRC three mile run on Saturday). I haven't even been to the gym once. I'm trying to catch up on my sleep after my F^3 training cycle. Snow throwing, shoveling, skiing and resting are now my new workouts!

  1. Those are some fun workouts! I am glad you got to test the skis! Now if only there were any snowshoe races left!!!

    1. Yes, it was great to finally test out the skis. I'm looking forward to doing at least one snow shoe race next winter!

  2. How fun! I"m hoping to get out in Deer Grove on the yellow trail at least once this winter! It's so fun to explore parts of the forest preserve that I don't normally get to see.

    1. Yes, that is one of the beauties of x-country skiing: You can access parts of forests that you don't normally get to see!

  3. Sounds like so much fun and a perfect activity while you take a running hiatus! I'm loving our snow as well. It's about time!

  4. Puppy sprints are no joke, so that plus all the winter fun is really all you need to keep your fitness up :)
